If a jackpot prize isn't claimed within the specified cut-off date, every participating state within the Mega Millions game will get back all the money that state contributed to the unclaimed jackpot. Public disclosure laws vary from state to state, some states by law require their lotteries division to publicly identify there states lottery winners, whereas others don't.
